Mikä olisikaan parempaa vastapainoa arjen puurtamiselle, kuin retkeily kauniissa maisemissa, uusiin ihmisiin tutustuminen ja nuotioillat? Lähde siis mukaan Suomen eräkerhojen yhteiseen kokoontumiseen Harjuntakaselle!
Reissuun voi hyvin lähteä myös ilman omaa retkeilyporukkaa, sillä heti Jamboreen alussa kisaillaan aarrejahdissa, jossa pääset tutustumaan muihin osallistujiin sekä keksimään mitä mahtavimpia ideoita Jamboreen viettämiseksi!

Lähtö- ja paluuaikataulut: Tapahtuma alkaa perjantai-iltana 2.10. ja loppuu maanantaina 5.10. Paikalle voi saapua vapaasti omien aikataulujen mukaan. Saapuminen kimppakyydeillä tai muuten matkat itse järjestäen. Kimppakyydeissä sovitaan osallistujien kesken Whatsappissa.

TAPAHTUMAKUTSU: Lähde mukaan Suomen yliopistojen eräkerhojen omalle jamboreelle eli kansalliseen kokoontumiseen! Jamboreen tarkoitus on koota jäsenet Suomen laajuisesti yhden leirinuotion ääreen. Leiripaikan läheisyydestä avautuu laaja alue kauneinta Suomenselkää, joka kutsuu osallistujat spontaaneille retkille yhdessä uusien ja vanhojen tuttujen kanssa. Virallinen ohjelma on mahdollisimman karsittu, mutta tällä kertaa mukana on salaperäinen aarrejahti, joka auttaa rikkomaan jään myös erakkoluonteisimmilta kairankiertäjiltä. Ei siis kannata jännittää, vaikka lähtisit reissuun yksin, Jamboreelta löydät varmasti sopivaa retkiseuraa! Järjestetyt aktiviteetit eivät ole kuitenkaan pakollisia, joten voit osallistua niihin oman mielenkiintosi mukaan. Olemme tahtoneet huomioida, että on täysin ok myös vetäytyä retkelle, keräämään sieniä tai karpaloita, tai kenties kokeilemaan kalaonnea, yksin tai sopivan rajatulla porukalla samanhenkisiä kavereita. Lokakuiset illat ovat itsessään riittävän pitkiä kannustamaan keskusteluihin nuotion äärellä. Tervetuloa! Huomioithan, että tapahtuma on alkoholiton.
RETKIKOHDE: Tämän vuoden Eräkerhojamboree vietetään kauniin kivisellä Suomenselän hiljaisimmalla sydänmaalla. Maisemaa täplittää pienien järvien ja lampien, soiden ja vanhojen metsien mosaiikki, joka vaipuu ruskan viimeisten tulipalovärien jälkeen kohti talven odotusta.
Eräkerhojamboreen tukikohta pystytetään Syväsalmen kämpän läheisyyteen, Suurijärven retkeilyreitistön reunamille. Retkeilyreitit kuljettavat huolettoman osallistujan helposti Harjuntakasen suojelualueen nähtävyyksille. Harjuntakasen jälkeen hiljainen salomaa jatkuu pitkälle länteen kohti Jää-Sydänmaan suojelualuetta, mikä ei varmasti jätä kovakuntoisintakaan retkeilijää kylmäksi.
Syväsalmen pienen punaisen kämpän pihapiirin nuotiorinki kerää kerhoilijat yhteiselle iltanuotiolle kapealle kannakselle kalavesien ja karpalomättäiden väliin. Majoitusmaastoa löytyy laajalta alueelta Ala-Karankajärven pohjoispuolelta. Alue muistuttaa hieman peikkojen leikkikenttää, jossa vaihtelevat pienet sammaloituneet kivenmurikat, puut ja metsäiset sopukat. Telttailijoille on varattu maanomistajan luvalla tilaa avaralta hakkuuaukealta ja kiviä pelkäävät retkeilijät saavat riippumattonsa helposti ripustettua metsän puolelle puiden väliin.
Uteliaisuuden herättäjäksi lähialueelta löytyy runsaasti kiintopisteitä kierrettäväksi. Kävelymatkan päästä löydät muun muassa useita autiotupia, uniikkeja retkeilyrakenteita sekä mielenkiintoisia luonnonnähtävyyksiä ihmeteltäväksi. Jos merkityt polut alkavat tuntua liian helpoilta, tarjoaa niiden ulkopuolinen maasto haastetta kokeneemmallekin eräkerholaiselle. Erämaiset suot, kiveliöt ja kankaat avaavat aivan oman maailmansa niille, jotka haluavat suunnata hieman syvemmälle metsään ja katsoa, mitä polun päässä tai sen ulkopuolella oikein odottaa. Alue tarjoaa kaiken tämän lisäksi erityisen elämyksen, autiosaunan, jonne matka kulkee erämaisen maiseman halki. Perillä odottavat pehmeät löylyt ja viileä pulahdus keskellä hiljaista luontoa. Täällä ei tarvitse kiirehtiä nähtävyydeltä toiselle. Päivän voi käyttää juuri niin kuin itse haluaa: vaeltaen, tutkien, eksyen sopivasti tai yksinkertaisesti luonnosta nauttien.
Jos kalastus on juttusi, hoida kalastonhoitomaksu kuntoon ja jalkaudu alueen järville etsimään ahvenia ja haukia nuotiolle tuotavaksi. Suurijärven kämpältä löytyy myös vene, joka on vapaassa käytössä. Tai ehkä olet enemmän seinäkiipeilytyyppiä? Alueen siirtolohkareet tarjoavat patjoineen kulkevalle boulderoijalle mahdollisuuden uusien reittien kartoittamiseen. Kaikki on siis mahdollista. Vastuu luovuuden täysimääräisestä hyödyntämisestä jää osallistujalle!

Pakkauslistan ja kohteen kartan löydät viestin lopusta. Pakkauksen osalta on erityisen tärkeää huomioida juomaveden riittävyys, sillä alueella ei ole kaivoa tai muuta vesipistettä. Usean päivän juomavedet voi joko kantaa itse alueelle (parkkipaikka sijaitsee lähellä leiriä, joten tämä ei aiheuta suurta vaivaa), tai toinen vaihtoehto on käyttää vesifiltteriä järviveden puhdistamiseen. Huomioi, että juomaveden lisäksi vettä on riitettävä myös ruuan valmistamiseen.

Are you having a stressful autumn and a calendar full of deadlines? Do you feel like you need a little break from your studies? Look no further and join the hiking club Jamboree in Harjuntakanen. Hiking club Jamboree is a meet up for all Finnish university hiking clubs and during the event you’ll meet many new people, hike in beautiful forests and spend the evenings around the bonfire – sounds pretty good, right!
Don’t worry if you haven’t found any hiker friends from your university yet, during Jamboree you’ll surely make new friends from all over Finland! In the beginning of Jamboree there’ll be organised activities such as a treasure hunt and other games which are great for getting to know people.
The registration for Jamboree opens on 26th of August at 10 and ends 25th of September at 10. After you have registered please pay the participation fee (10€) to JOPAs bank account, here are the payment details:

Departure and return: The event begins on the evening of Friday, October 2, and ends on Monday, October 5. You are free to arrive according to your own schedule. Participants must arrange their own travel or join a carpool. Carpooling arrangements will be made among participants in the WhatsApp group.

EVENT INVITATION: Join the very own jamboree of Finland’s university outdoor clubs—a nationwide gathering of outdoor enthusiasts! The purpose of the Jamboree is to bring together members from across Finland around a shared campfire. The surrounding area opens up into a vast stretch of some of the finest wilderness of Suomenselkä, inviting participants to head out on spontaneous adventures with both new and old friends.The official programme has been kept to a minimum, but this time there will be a mysterious treasure hunt to help break the ice, even for the most solitary wilderness wanderers. So there is no need to feel nervous about coming on your own: you are sure to find suitable company for your adventures at the Jamboree! Participation in the organised activities is entirely optional, and you are free to join according to your own interests. We also want to emphasise that it is perfectly okay to head off on your own, or with a suitably small group of like-minded friends, to explore the area, pick mushrooms or cranberries, or perhaps try your luck at fishing. October evenings are long enough in themselves to encourage good conversations around the campfire. Welcome! Please note that this is an alcohol-free event.
THE DESTINATION: This year’s Eräkerho Jamboree will take place in the beautiful, rocky wilderness at the quiet heart of Suomenselkä. The landscape is a mosaic of small lakes and ponds, mires and old-growth forests, slowly settling into anticipation of winter after the final fiery colours of autumn. The Jamboree base camp will be set up near the Syväsalmi cabin, on the edge of the Suurijärvi hiking trail network. The trails provide an easy way for participants to explore the sights of the Harjuntakanen protected area. Beyond Harjuntakanen, the quiet wilderness continues far to the west towards the Jää-Sydänmaa protected area, a challenge that is sure to keep even the most determined hiker busy. The campfire circle in the yard of Syväsalmi’s little red cabin will bring club members together for shared evening fires on a narrow strip of land between fishing waters and cranberry-covered hummocks. There is plenty of terrain for camping north of Lake Ala-Karanka. The area resembles something of a troll’s playground, with small moss-covered boulders, trees and secluded pockets of forest. Tent campers have, with the landowner’s permission, been allocated space in an open clearing, while those who prefer to stay away from rocks will find plenty of trees in the surrounding forest for hanging their hammocks. For those curious to explore, the surrounding area is full of points of interest to discover. Within walking distance, you can find several wilderness huts, unique outdoor structures and fascinating natural sights. If the marked trails begin to feel too easy, the terrain beyond them offers challenges even for experienced outdoor enthusiasts. The wild mires, rocky landscapes and forest heaths open up a world of their own for those who want to venture deeper into the forest and see what lies beyond the end of the trail. The area also offers a particularly memorable experience: a wilderness sauna, reached by travelling through the surrounding backcountry. At the end of the journey, you can enjoy soft sauna heat and a refreshing dip in the water amid the quiet of nature. There is no need to rush from one sight to the next here. You can spend the day exactly as you wish: hiking, exploring, getting pleasantly lost, or simply enjoying nature. If fishing is your thing, make sure your Finnish fisheries management fee is in order and head out onto the area’s lakes in search of perch and pike to bring back to the campfire. There is also a boat at the Suurijärvi cabin available for visitors to use. Or perhaps you are more of a climbing person? The area’s glacial erratic boulders offer boulderers travelling with crash pads the opportunity to discover and establish new routes. In other words, anything is possible. The responsibility for making full use of your own creativity rests entirely with the participant! There is no water well in the area so you’ll either need to bring water canisters with you (the parking area is close to the camp site) or pack a water filter. It’s important to take into account that you’ll need water for both cooking and drinking.
